Freeze or blur? Always sharp is all well and good, but there's more. Use the leeway and creative potential when playing with the exposure time. Do you only expose your pictures in automatic mode? Then you are missing out on many opportunities for animal pictures outside the norm.

Some situations, such as backlighting, cloudy skies or strong contrasts, just cry out for a targeted and manually set exposure. You think the flash is superfluous since cameras with high ISO values and contrasts? That's true, but you will see that many interesting creations are only possible with flash. The usual way of looking at animal pictures is from a telephoto perspective. Have you ever tried the wide angle? And, and, and. Expand your horizons and your creative skills.
