Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons
Friday, 08/05/2026 / 08:00 PM / Konzerthaus Freiburg (Concert hall)
Since her debut album "Little Earthquakes" in 1992, the US-American Tori Amos has created a remarkable body of work with fearless storytelling and her unique musical voice. In addition to eight Grammy nominations, she has received five nominations for the MTV VMAs, won several platinum awards and sold more than 12 million records worldwide. With her new album "In Times of Dragons" on the horizon, the exceptional artist will embark on her biggest headline tour of the last ten years in spring 2026, playing concerts in 17 different countries in April and May of that year. At these live shows, Tori Amos will once again be accompanied by long-term collaborators such as Jon Evans (musical director & bass), Ash Soan (drums) and the three backing singers Liv Gibson, Deni Hlavlinka and Hadley Kennary. In addition to new songs from the album, the show promises plenty of highlights from the singer's 35-year career, whose unique sound between alternative rock, baroque pop and electronic music has caused a worldwide sensation.
Both her lyrics - often lyrical, emotionally charged, critical and feminist - and her music - characterized at its core by dominant piano passages and soulful vocals - have been celebrated since "Little Earthquakes" on albums such as the UK number 1 album "Under the Pink" (1994), "Boys for Pele" (1996) became unmistakable trademarks, which were increasingly influenced by electronic music on "From the Choirgirl Hotel" (1998) or "To Venus and Back" (1999). Tori Amos retained this joy of experimentation in the 2000s, while her albums expanded in length and storytelling. For example, on the albums "Scarlet's Walk" (2002) and "American Doll Posse" (2007), which are dedicated to American identity, or "The Beekeeper" (2005), a concept album about life and death. In the early 2010s, she turned to classical music and released her crossover album "Night of Hunters" in 2011, which won an Echo Klassik award. This was followed in 2012 by another classical album, "Gold Dust", which featured some of her songs in orchestral arrangements, before she returned to her style between alternative rock and baroque pop in 2014 with "Unrepentant Geraldines". Four years after the release of her current album "Ocean to Ocean" (2021), the singer is dedicating herself to a new work. With "In Times of Dragons" - her 18th album - Tori Amos continues her musical tradition and presents a powerful journey between resilience and awakening, where the pursuit of freedom meets forces that seek control and calm. Once again, the singer unites her political and personal sides in a work that reflects the urgency of our times. As the artist herself says about the album, "In Times of Dragons" is "a metaphorical story about the fight for democracy and against tyranny.r democracy and against tyranny, reflecting the current heinous and far from accidental destruction of democracy in real time by the 'dictatorial thinking lizard demons' in their usurpation of America."
