Close up

In CLOSE UP, dance, video art and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach merge into a unique synthesis that sharpens the senses and expands perception. Accompanied live by five musicians from the baroque ensemble Il Convito, six dancers perform unusual, highly abstract forms of movement and expressive gestures full of emotion. In his latest work, choreographer Noé Soulier once again takes a close look at movement: everyday actions such as catching, dodging or throwing are meticulously taken apart, modified, distorted and reassembled in completely new ways. In interplay with Bach's contrapuntal compositions, they develop outside of any narrative structure. Using subtle live video projections, this choreographic and musical polyphony surprises with completely unexpected dimensions of the body and movement.
