Open Art Festival 2024

Artists from a wide range of disciplines from the Freiburg region or with a connection to the region will enter into an artistic dialog with unexpected places such as craft businesses, retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants and public spaces, urban areas such as meadows and lakes and many other possible locations.

Throughout the urban area, artists will present sculptures and objects, music and lectures, performances, happenings and flash mobs. The guiding principle of OPEN ART is to locate art in the everyday living space. This public art offering opens up a wide field of action - people are reached in their everyday lives. At the same time, OPEN ART exposes art to the everyday.
It is important to OPEN ART not to select according to a particular art movement, but to be open to a rich diversity.
The aim of OPEN ART is to bring art into everyday life for Freiburg residents and tourists across all disciplines, to make it tangible and to involve exhibition visitors and passers-by up close in these creative processes in order to be able to participate directly and thus offer low-threshold access to innovative and creative artistic interventions.

The opening event will take place on 11.5. on Augustinerplatz at 14:00 with speakers from Freiburg's cultural and artistic scene.

On 26.5. at 16:00 the award ceremony and closing event with music will take place in the Stadtgarten (Muschel)
