Talking Taylor: The Tortured Poets Department, Explained

Free entry

2023 was the year in which the world itself felt like "Taylor's version" - Time Magazine's "Person of the Year", one of the most successful female musicians of all time with more than 252 million records sold, a billion-dollar economic factor and even a political heavyweight: Pop icon Taylor Swift circled the globe with her record-breaking "Eras" tour, hooked up with football hercules Travis Kelce and ended up outshining even the Superbowl. Swift is now coming to Europe with her mega show in summer 2024 - but there's a new studio album first! Literature professor and top Swiftie Elly McCausland made international headlines with her "Swifterature" course at the University of Ghent - and drew tons of fans to our house for the "Talking Taylor" premiere. For the release of The Tortured Poets Department, McCausland travels back to Freiburg to analyze Swift's latest work with us. At our entertaining, multimedia themed evening on "All Things Taylor", she will be joined this time by the multi-award-winning pop journalist and author Jenni Zylka (Taz, Tagesspiegel, Zeit, Spiegel Online, among others), who has been following the career of the former sugar-sweet country girl curly-haired for many years. McCausland and Zylka will discuss "TTPD" with René Freudenthal from Carl-Schurz-Haus - and reveal their favorite songs!
