Lectures, readings & discussions
[postponed] Christina Clemm & Stefanie Lohaus
Stronger than anger. Reading and discussion in the series Girl, Woman, Other. New date to be announced
Friday, 03/05/2024 / 07:30 PM / House of Literature Freiburg
Due to the rail strike we have to cancel the event! We will try to find an alternative date.
For more than 25 years, criminal defense lawyer Christina Clemm has been representing victims of gender-based violence in court - and she is furious because in Germany a woman is killed by her (ex-)partner every third day. In "Gegen Frauenhass" (Hanser Berlin, 2023), she guides us through the spiral of violence that is anchored in deeply rooted patriarchal structures. At the Literaturhaus, she will be talking to Stefanie Lohaus, co-founder of Missy Magazine and co-director of the European Academy for Women in Politics and Business Berlin, who sheds light on five decades of feminist movements in Germany in "Stärker als Wut" (Suhrkamp, 2023). An evening about power and powerlessness, about achievements, setbacks and perspectives on the path to a gender-equitable society. The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Zimmermann (board member of the women's rights organization Amica e.V.).
