From the old airfield to the Heidenhof (guided tour)

Where Dennis Oppenheim's non-flying works of art attract attention, people used to actually take off and land. The grounds of the Faculty of Engineering were once Freiburg's airfield. Even more than 100 years ago, there were air shows with "sideways dive" and "slide on the tail". Nearby is the Art Nouveau Heidenhof signal tower, which takes its name from the 13th century courtyard of the Heiliggeistspitalstiftung of the same name, whose inconspicuous successor building is still a relic today. - Registration required.
