Between a living room atmosphere and co-working energy - more beautiful studying in Freiburg! The interior design of the new university library could be straight out of a glossy magazine.

All areas are perfectly thought out: In addition to 1,200 individual workstations, each equipped with a security lock for the laptop, sufficient power sockets and pretty lamps, cozy seating areas for teamwork and multi-media rooms have been set up. The comfortable designer armchairs from Vitra in the lounge area are perfect for relaxing in between. A true palace - from the inside. However, opinions are divided when it comes to the exterior of the modern building. Critics find the modern architecture between the historic municipal theater or the college building overwhelming. Others, on the other hand, describe the dark, glass building as a black, finely polished diamond whose façade reflects the historic buildings, creating a strong symbiosis between the surroundings and the library. The fact is: everyone is talking about the new university library. It is certainly future-oriented, as it consumes 65 percent less energy than the old university library and is self-sufficient in electricity thanks to a 2,000 square meter photovoltaic system.
